Volunteers Needed to Bring Hope to the Incarcerated

Advance the Light Banquet:
Christian Library International’s annual banquets are held in October. We have a former inmate who had been touched by CLI as our guest speaker. If you have banquet experience, we’d like to talk with you.

Youth Teams:
CLI hosts church and school service teams every month. Some come after school and others on Saturday. We can handle a group of up to 10 volunteers at our Raleigh site.

Letter Ministers:
We personally answer every letter that we receive from inmates. CLI volunteers read the letters and respond in a professional loving way. They encourage with scripture and mentor the inmate in a godly fashion. Letters are received handwritten but our response is written on a computer and saved. We encourage discipleship but not pen pal activity.

CLI Leadership Bible Study:
We offer two free correspondence Bible Studies to help inmates influence the ideas, opinions and actions of others for Christ. CLI volunteers review the lessons with an answer key and make appropriate comments. Once the lesson is reviewed, it is mailed back to the inmate with the next lesson.

The CLI Newsletter:
Writing, photography, layout and mailing preparation skills are needed. Bulk mailing experience is a plus. CLI publishes a quarterly newsletter which is distributed by both mail and email.

Prayer Warrior:
Join us in prayer each week. CLI prayer warriors pray for God’s will with praises, thanksgiving and prayer requests. Many prayer warriors pray from their home.

Social Networking:
CLI engages our partners and volunteers through our social networking sites including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, our Website and periodic email updates. We seek to use the Internet to glorify God and to communicate with all our partners around the world.

Counting, Reviewing, Stamping and Packing – CLI receives a wide variety of Christian and some non-Christian materials that must be counted and sorted and packed according to each Chaplain’s needs. Our best sorters are very familiar with Christian authors and publishers.

Every book and Bible that is approved for shipping is stamped with our address. This allows the inmate to write to us. Youth groups and adults especially enjoy this activity.

Technical Consulting:
Help keep our network running and software programs in top condition. We use Raiser’s Edge, Quick Books and Microsoft Office.

About Christian Library International

The mission of CLI is to advance Christ’s light in prisons. Since its founding in 1996, CLI has helped thousands of incarcerated men and women find new hope in the healing powers of Christ. We do this by collecting and distributing used Christian books and Bibles to 1,600 prisons in all 50 states. CLI is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. Although we serve US prisons in all 50 states, most of our books and financial donors come from North Carolina.
